Last time we talked about body composition and weight. This will be a more specific look into daily nutrition design.
Many people take the stance that itâs as easy as: Calories In = Calories Out
It is, and it isnâtâŠ
In the short term, yes, weight will be 100% dependent on caloric quantity. Eat less calories than you burn and youâll lose weight. Easy peasy.
Long term it is slightly more complicated.
Intuitively, this makes sense. We donât just eat 2000 calories of sugar packets each day and expect not to have any issues.
The quantity AND quality of the foods we eat have a profound impact on:
Satiety (how full we feel)
Hormones
Health biomarkers
Etc!
Our habits and health are in a constant feedback loop. The healthier we eat, the easier it is to live a healthy lifestyle and stay active, which makes us want to continue to eat healthy!
Therefore, I care less about the calories and more about creating a pattern where I feel good most of the time. This post is about trying to simplify the nutrition approach in a way that itâs sustainable and supportive of the lifestyle I want. The rest tends to take care of itself.
